Arizona Humane Society’s (AHS) Emergency Animal Medical Technicians assisted in the two-day rescue and said it took “all hands on deck”.

The little feline had been calling for help for a week, reported AHS.

However, every time the rescue team opened the manhole cover to look for him, he would take off down the drain.

Firefighter had apparently been tossing chicken down to him for the past week to make sure he didn’t starve. Rescuers decided to set a trap with a can of cat food inside and wait.

The next day they returned and found the ginger kitten inside the crate. The rescue team was elated that they had finally captured the kitten.

“Aww, there he is,” said one of the firefighters as the kitten was lifted out of the hole.

He was brought to AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital to be examined and treated for fleas.

AHS shared the rescue video on Facebook and thanked the fire department for their help. “Wags and purrs for our friends at Phoenix Fire Station 61!”
