The bond we share with dogs is truly special. They’re not called “man’s best friend,” for no reason, and sometimes, a dog really does feel like a best friend.
Not only do humans feel love and friendship for dogs, but they feel strong feelings for us as well. There’s a reason they get so excited when greeting us after a long day of work or even a weekend away!
Sometimes, dogs have to be separated from their owners for even longer stretches of time and it can be quite challenging for all parties involved. The reunion afterward, though, makes the wait all worth it!
In a touching video shared on YouTube, you can see a loving German Shepherd named Freya greeting her owner for the first time in months. Despite being apart for so long, Freya is so excited to be with her dad, she runs out to him and howls in happiness.
If you’ve ever been around a dog who’s happy to see you, it seems that its eyes are filled with love and there’s research to back that up!
A study published in Frontiers in Psychology showed that when dogs see their owner smiling, it actually helps them release oxytocin – the happy hormone.
It’s no wonder they get so excited to see us, we make them happy just like they make us happy!
For Freya, a lot of time might’ve passed, but it’s clear she didn’t lose the love she has for her owner.
