Six-year-old Kinzleigh Reeder was found safe after being kidnapped by her father over a month ago, and it’s all thanks to a bloodhound named Fred.
According to WKRN, Nicholas Reeder had been caught living with Kinzleigh in a tent. The two were homeless, and Reeder lost custody of the young girl and was charged with child abuse and neglect.
Kinzleigh was placed in temporary custody with a family member, and eventually, her dad was granted permission to live in the same household as her.
On June 21, the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services won custody of Kinzeleigh, but when they went to collect her to place her in foster care, they were told she hadn’t been seen since May 26.

The missing person search started immediately, and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office joined in to help find her. They shared on Facebook that K9 Deputy Richard Tidwell and his trained bloodhound, Fred, joined the search.
They gave the dog an item that belonged to the father and set out to a property that the father was suspected of hiding on.
Once on the property, Fred quickly led authorities to a barricaded outbuilding. Authorities broke into the building and discovered Nicholas and Kinzleigh Reeder in the back of the shed.
“We made entry into the building and discovered the suspect and child in the back of the shed behind blankets that were hanging from a makeshift clothesline,” they said in the Facebook post.
The young girl was excited to see other people, but she was especially excited to see a dog. She gave Fred a big hug before being taken by the police.
Nicholas Reeder was arrested and charged with child abuse and neglect, and Kinzleigh was handed over to DCS.
As for Fred, he received plenty of praise and a lot of treats.
