Long before debates about whether or not a dress was blue or gold, there was another major debate where people took very staunch sides.
That great debate – which continues to this day – is which pet is the best pet. Dogs? Or, cats?
Personally, I’m a cat person. But my opinion is only one of millions, so if you’ve ever wanted to know where the entire world stands on such an important debate, all you need to do is look at the map below.
Thanks to Budget Direct, there is now a world map that lists out pet popularity according to different countries.
In order to do this, the site compared the location data of posts with pro-dog hashtags against pro-cat hashtags through Instagram.

This is how they ended up finding that there are 91 countries that seem to prefer cats, while dogs are favored in only 76 countries. Amongst these crazy cat-people countries are Canada, China, and Russia.
However, according to the data found, it seems that the pro-dog countries include the US, Australia, Mexico, and the UK.
