When you work for a dog rescue, you never know when your next call is going to come in.
For Stray Rescue of St. Louis, that call came from a good Samaritan who reported a stray pit bull running in traffic.
The injured dog was heading for an abandoned home and needed help.

After Sheila contacted the rescue, the dispatch team and Donna went out to rescue the dog. Although Donna was good with dogs and she had the right temperament for it, it did take some additional coaxing to get the pitbull to come out of her hiding place.

There wasn’t much trust at first, but then something interesting happened.

Suddenly, the pit bull decided to take a chance and ended up in the car, safe and sound. That dog, that they named Minka, began to relax, and suddenly, she realized that her days of living on the street were over.
It took some time before Minka was able to recover from the wounds she suffered from. Her wounds were caused by a pinched collar that was so tight it had punctured her skin deep enough that it could not be stitched.

After looking at the video of Minka a few days later below, you can hardly imagine it is the same dog!
Minka still has some healing to do, but she is getting the TLC she needs along with some antibiotics and daily bandage changes. You can see what a difference those kind rescuers made in her life.

The rescue shared on Facebook, “She’s just happy as can be to be surrounded by love! Her wounds are already looking sooo much better and it’s only been a few days. You are a WARRIOR, Minka! And an inspiration!”
How beautiful!
