Snakes are not inherently cuddly. In fact, there is nothing immediately charming about snakes. Perhaps it’s a lack of fur or the flicking tongue, but for the most part, snakes are a bit scary. But then you throw a hat on them and they suddenly become so endearing to look at.

To be honest, going through some of the pictures on social media makes me less apprehensive about snakes – but only if they’re wearing a hat. The headwear is key because there is something so cute and charming about a snake in a hat.
