After hearing that the Bristol Animal Rescue Centre was facing financial troubles because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Maisie Williams stepped in and donated £50,000 to the charity.
The charity had begun an emergency appeal for help after the pandemic forced them to cancel all their planned fundraising events.
Without hesitation, Williams – who had previously adored her dog, Sonny, in 2016 from the rescue center – made a donation of £50,000.
The staff were touched by the gesture, and shared a post to Facebook, thanking her for her kindness.
We want to say a massive thank you to Bristol’s very own Maisie Williams, the young actress who made an incredibly generous donation to our urgent appeal last Friday, and for also showing us so much support at this difficult time by sharing our appeal information on her Instagram story to all her fans as well.To know that she loves and supports what we do really has made the world of difference to us and the animals we care for, so… THANK YOU MAISIE – this one’s for you

The 23-year-old actress replied to the post saying, “You are all most welcome. Be safe.”
Maisie, said, “Bristol A.R.C. changes the lives of animals everyday and Sonny, my dog who I adopted from them a few years ago, has changed my life in many ways for the better.”
She added, “It’s so important in these difficult times not to forget about charities like Bristol A.R.C. that need our help. So please make a donation to their appeal if you can. We all need to stick together in these dark times and keep the world spinning regardless.”
Jodie Hayward, the manager of the center, said to ITV, “To know that Maisie respects and loves what we do so much means the world to us. I couldn’t believe it when I heard what she had done to support us, I had to hold back a few tears! It really will make the world of difference to us right now and we can’t thank her enough for her generosity.”
It’s always nice to see people stepping up to help others in this pandemic.
